On August 29, 2014, Clifford E. Green of Malvern, was called home to be with his heavenly Father. Clifford was born on November 17, 1928 in Hot Spring County, Arkansas to Fred L. Green and Tinnia Hathcock Green. He married Armagene Carr Green on April, 17, 1951.
Clifford attended the Central School in Hot Spring County where he graduated in 1949. He also played in the band The Malvern Ramblers. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was retired from Alcoa Industries in Bauxite and was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union.
Clifford loved baseball and spent many happy summers coaching his sons in the Malvern Little League and Junior Babe Ruth baseball. He also coached boys’ basketball at the Malvern Boys Club. He was a lover of the outdoors and a longtime member of the Brush Creek Hunting Club. He took great joy in keeping a garden and sharing his wares with both family and friends. He was a Master Gardener and enjoyed teaching others all they needed to know about the topic. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Malvern.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Armagene Carr Green, his brother, Gifford Green (Lois) of Malvern, his sons, Mike Green of Malvern and Terry Green (LaDonna) of Homer, LA, a grandson, Brandon Green (Mandy) of Malvern, a granddaughter, Brittani Green Brooks (Jeremy) of Benton, and five great grandchildren, Macey, Jace, and Emma Green, and Lillian and Caleb Brooks.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn Herron and LaVenia Gulledge.
The celebration of his life will be at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Eli Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Brandon Green, Jeremy Brooks, Jace Green, Don Gulledge, Randy Green, Seth Lowe, and Darrel Hathcock. Honorary pallbearers will be Rufus Vaught, Marvin Blair, John Lee Cole, Ronnie Mays, Mike Burris, and Mark White.
